M3 Lite ENGLISH VERSION REVIEW

Hi, i am proud to tell and give u the 1st M3 Lite English version REVIEW. This Thread will be spread WorldWide, so time to get things started.

I will like to thanks Divineo for the M3 lite, Maxconsole for providing good Homebrew support (Greetings to FifthE1ement!). Hacken.cc and yyjoy for the update of the M3 lite Chinese Version that make me so excited over it. and will like to thanks u guys in m3 for doing such a great work!

Here is a quick run down of what the M3 is capable of doing:

NDS Games:

* Highest DS game compatibility with perfect save function.
* Fast-Read: Game size larger than 256Mb will not be slow-down too by using the Fast-Direct reading mode.
* Support 3 reading mode: Normal, 1X DMA(Direct), 4X DMA mode(Fast Direct).
* Save Management System (SMS) supports storing more than one save file for each game. (Maximum 200 files)
* The save system supports storing game save data safety. No file(s) storing in card will be unexpectedly loss.
* Support playing MP3 files directly. Individual files can place in any directory of SD. (use MoonShell-MP3 player special version for M3, No conversion is necessary before playing MP3 music.)
* NDS Multi-Media Player. Support full-screen viewing, fast and smooth.
Work fine with “FLAHSME”

GBA:

* No games will be slow-down.
* Highest game compatibility. Support running all flashcard games.
* Support running emulator games. (GB, SMS, PCE, NES etc.)
* Best Instant Save Function and Reset function. User friendly design, only one convenience key-combination need to enter, easy for users to control all functions. No complex key-combination needs to enter.
* Build-in RTC IC and battery. Able to run RTC games.
* No patching or conversion is need before playing. Just copy and play.

Movies:

* World’s first full-screen NDS movie Player. Fully compatible with all .GBM movies. And a lot of .GBM movies/cartoons are available for downloading in Internet.
* Build-in “Crystal Engine”
* One 256M-CF card can carry around 120mins cartoon or movie.

Part 1: The Packaging

When I received the M3 Lite it came in a very padded envelope from divineo. The M3 comes in the same blue box as previous versions but with an updated graphic of the M3 Lite on the cover.

Pictured here is with the Euro Black DS lite (V7 stealth flashme) and the M3 Lite content, 3 X covers (black, white, icy blue) and a driver cd.

Part 2: The M3 Lite

My first impressions was "Finally the Best Slot 2 solution have arrived". It is smaller then other flash carts on the market (I think compared to SC Lite and about the same size as a regular DS lite dust cover.

It slots in the slot 2 Perfectly as there is no stick out in this version. unlike the chinese version we saw on yyjoy, its also abit tought to take it out. have uploaded some pic for easier understanding

Then after that is the interface of the NDS mode, its still the same as all the other m3 products (People its in english )

Part 3:Firmware Versions

Once booted up you get the usually M3 OS screen with options to start a game, read text, watch a movie, listen to music, settings , extended moonshell and more. The M3 OS is very easy to navigate as it is pretty stright forward

The firmware versions of the m3 lite english version i get is
NDS: V.400 (jun,2006)
GBA:V.3.90 (jun,2006)

After finding out the firmware, i downloaded the Latest M3 SD firmware E26, and upgraded it. After a min or so, its done and now i have E26 eng firmware on m3 lite. *Take note if u have a Chinese M3 lite, You CANNOT flash it with other languge and ONLY flash with chinese versions, as it might cause the M3 to be unstable or even spoilt it.

Part 4:Media Guide

Have been reading through Hacken.cc forum about the Chinese M3 Lite, and they have concluded that SanDisk microSD or KingMax card is having the best compatibility rather then Kingston. I think many M3 users will know.

So i have when to get the SanDisk microSD 1GB for only ($59 SGD) and when i tested it, tada....it work flawlessly.

Part :Conclusion

The bottom line is the M3 Lite performs very well like the other M3 SD and M3 CF Products but looks much much better. It is rated the number 1 flashcart on the market for the Nintendo DS for being so compatible in NDS and GBA mode. There are many other companys that are in this field now but i can be VERY SURE that none of this other Products on the market now have the compatibility, durability, or advanced software that the M3 Lite has.

about the black case... do you have to take out the pcb and put it in the black casing yourself?

Its not glossy, is it Matt Black

Mine comes in Black casing with the PCB.
