just change my hard disk to 500 gb seagate hdd. having trouble unscrewing the screws though. hav to to buy 20 dollar screw set to find the right screw to unscrew it... but i think if u noe the size buy some less than a dollar screw also can.

i bought for 1.20 at the shop when i bought the hdd to it, he just find the right size and i bought it

Woot. I bought a set of precision screw driver also around $1. Quality F lousy. The screw driver lose to ps3 hd bay screw. It became a pointed screw driver. Zzz.

Guy, I had just bought a samsung Hm251ji 250Gb Sata 5400rmp a few day ago but it not working, it say fail to read the harddrive . But my ps3 old hardrive is working, What should i do? i can take a picture of what ir wrote if u all need it.

Required items
PLAYSTATION®3 system
A wireless controller
A USB cable
A PC with Internet access
Storage media (such as a USB flash drive)
(At least 120 MB of free space required)

Update data download procedure:

1. Create a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data.
Using a PC, create a folder named "PS3"¯ on the storage media or USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named "UPDATE".

2. Download the update data and save it in the “UPDATE” folder created in step 1.


Notice
Be sure to save the update data as noted below. If the data is not saved in the correct way, the PS3ā„¢ system will not recognize the update data. The folder name must be in all uppercase letters.
Location: Save in the PS3¯ folder > UPDATE¯ folder
File name: Save as file name PS3UPDAT.PUP
