GameAxis Forums Usage Guidelines *Please read before posting* Updated 1 Jun 2010

This is put up for the purpose of clarification and accessibility to the usage guidelines for GameAxis forums. I hope this will create a more conducive environment for forum discussions to all users.

GameAxis forums uses the same Terms of Service as HardwareZone.com, hence all Terms of Use in HardwareZone.com will apply. GameAxis may have its own Terms of Service and FAQ page in the future but for the time being this will suffice.

7. FORUMS CONDUCT
You agree and acknowledge that during your interaction in any particular forum,

(a) You will only post relevant topics or replies.

(b) You will not post any topic as an employee of any related industries to the specific forum representing your brand(s) or service(s) or product(s).

(c) You will not 'hijack' any topic to your advantage.

(d) You will not intentionally put up false, misleading, incomplete or inaccurate information.

(e) You will not take part in any flame wars.

(f) You will ensure that your forum avatar and signature conforms to these guidelines.

(g) You will abide by all other forum rules and guidelines as outlined here.

In addition to the above, the following usage guidelines will apply to all GameAxis forums:

1. No discussion on piracy. We have received numerous feedback and complaints that there are rampant dealings of pirated materials, such as movies, software, games. Please note that possession and transaction of piracy materials is an offence by Singapore Law. In a bid to stop such illegal activity, we've taken steps to work with the Singapore Police Force. All culprits' IP addresses will be reported to the Singapore Police Force, who will be assisting us to track down these culprits.

2. No commercial affiliate links which enable the user to earn monetary or other rewards by promoting products, goods and services from a commercial entity. (ie Playasia affiliate member links)

3. All mass order arrangements and buy/sell threads should be carried out in the respective Buy/Sell/Trade forums.

4. Do not advertise or offer to sell any goods or services for any commercial purpose or entity.

5. No discussion on microtransaction, RMT (Real Money Trading), and illicit sales. (ie Gold farming)

6. No discussion on unlicensed online game servers.

Clan Recruitment

1. I started my own clan of players, can I recruit GAX members to join me?

Sure thing. GAX would be more than happy to accommodate different clans, provided clan activities are conducted within GAX forums.

2. What if my clan is based on another forum? Can I still recruit from GAX?

No, because that defeats our objective of making GAX the central community for SG players. After all, it's quite unfair to recruit from GAX and carry out activities elsewhere.

3. If I'm from a clan on another forum, can I still participate in discussions in GAX?

Of course. We more than welcome you to. However, please take note of Points 1 and 2 above.

4. Are we allowed to *gasp* mention the names of other clans here?

Of course la!

5. Ok, then I want to base my clan in GAX, but it is too troublesome as I have no administrative control here.

If you think there are features that could be useful in helping you manage your clan in GAX, do suggest them in the Feedback Channel so we can look into implementing them. We want to make GAX a nice home for all clans

Signature Guidelines

6. Can I display my clan forum signature here?

Of course, but no hyperlinks, please.

Posting Guidelines

7. I'm from another clan, why do my posts keep getting deleted?

In all probability, your post was deemed as flame bait. This includes, but not limited to, snide remarks about our rules with malicious undertones, smear campaigns against fellow members or moderators, and threats of any kind. Basically, any post that is irrelevant to discussion and stirs tensions, making other members feel uncomfortable. GAX should be a place for members to relax and discuss games, not a tension-filled place.

8. I heard members from other clans got banned. Will I get banned too?

If you persist in going against Clan Recruitment, Signature and Posting guidelines, even after repeated warnings, then you will be banned. The rules apply to every GAX member, no matter what clan you're from.

9. Why was my post deleted but not his? Is GAX biased?

This is probably the most common question asked to moderators across all forums. The key thing to understand here, is moderators are humans that take action based on their interpretations of the rules. There are a lot of subjective "grey areas" and we just try our best to take care of the forums, based on our understanding of the rules.

If you spot any inconsistencies, do raise it nicely in the Feedback channel and we will try to standardize it. Try to look at it positively - we can clarify the grey areas one by one, and I hope this can be a start.

Thanks guys.
